What’s the Deal with the Commandments?

The Commandments of God aren’t just ancient rules—they’re core parts of God’s Law that many believers today either misunderstand or ignore. Some even say the Ten Commandments are “obsolete,” but Scripture tells a very different story. Jesus clearly supported keeping the Commandments, and the confusion often comes from misreading Paul’s letters—something even Peter warned about. While there are 613 commandments in the Torah, most don’t apply to everyone. Many are specific to priests, farmers, or other roles. The truth? If you’re following Jesus and living morally, you’re probably already keeping many of them. Also, Gentile believers aren’t outsiders—they’re grafted into Israel and part of the same covenant. Ceremonial laws tied to the old temple system are currently paused, but the moral commands still matter.
